Do these QR codes expire?

No. Each code contains your data directly, with no shortener or redirect service in between. A QR code is just a picture of your text, so it keeps scanning correctly for as long as QR codes exist, on paper or on screen.

Generators that "expire" codes work differently: they encode a short link that passes through their server, then break that link when you stop paying. Nothing here passes through a server, so there is nothing to break.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no signup, no watermark, no scan limit and no paid tier. Generation happens on your device, which costs the site nothing per code, so there is no reason to charge you for it.

Can I use the codes commercially?

Yes. Codes you generate here are yours. Print them on products, packaging, menus, posters, business cards or anything else, for personal or commercial use, with no attribution required.

Which error correction level should I pick?

M, at 15 percent, is a good default for screens and clean prints. Pick H, at 30 percent, if the code may get dirty, scratched or partially covered: it stays scannable with up to 30 percent of the pattern damaged, at the cost of a denser grid.

What can I encode?

Five formats, each a standard the scanning phone understands natively:

• URL or text opens the link, or shows the plain text.
• WiFi joins your network without typing the password.
• Email opens a pre-addressed email, with optional subject and body.
• Phone starts a call to the number.
• SMS opens a pre-filled text message.

PNG or SVG, which download should I use?

PNG for screens, documents and most print jobs. SVG when a designer or print shop asks for a vector file: it scales to any size, from a sticker to a billboard, without getting blurry.
